Musical Director

Sian Buss

Siân Buss is a UK-based brass teacher and musician with a strong background in both performance and education. Based in West Sussex, she teaches a wide range of brass instruments—including trumpet, cornet, horn, euphonium and tuba—working with students from complete beginners through to advanced levels. Alongside instrumental lessons, she also teaches music theory, helping pupils prepare for graded exams and ensuring they meet requirements such as Grade 5 theory. Her teaching style focuses on keeping learning enjoyable and accessible, with an emphasis on building confidence as well as technical ability.

As a performer, Siân has over 30 years of experience, having played with Brighton and Hove City Brass and continuing to perform in the ensemble Brass Fusion, which she co-founded. She is also involved in running brass ensembles and training bands, giving students valuable group playing experience beyond individual lessons. In addition to teaching and performing, she serves as a musical director for Warbleton Brass Band and is a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians. Her work reflects a strong commitment to music education, combining high exam success rates with a focus on making music a lifelong, enjoyable activity.
